“The party is starting to die off and you’re thinking it’s time to head, then suddenly, a familiar blast of horns comes out of nowhere to remind you that it’s far from over…”
We’re delivering you the alternative Burns Nicht this January with ska-punk band The Hostiles, supported by Shetland’s very own Big Time Quell. Based in Ayr, Scotland, The Hostiles were recently described by Discovered Magazine as “the band marrying ska and pop punk like no other in 2019.”
Reflecting the transatlantic origins of the band members themselves, their sound introduces sunny US ska-punk to slamming Scottish ska-core. Recently sharing the stage with local heroes Forgotten Sons, this is the band’s first show in Shetland since their appearance at the Heavy Metal Buffet.
They’ll be supported by Big Time Quell, who’s cogs run entirely on each other’s joy and sweat, featuring Thomas ‘The Cheese Grater’ Jones, Jamie ‘Medium Rib Eye’ Hatchbar, Chris ‘Pun Life’ Cope, Robert ‘Boyband’ Balfour and ‘Stormin’ Norman Wilmore.
